I can see! I finally got my hair cut. And I did so well - didn't really
mind her trimming my hair. I just sat on mommy's lap and ate my crackers.
Though I wasn't crazy about the clippers.

Today I moved up to the Toddler class at school, and I absolutely LOVED it!
And as an added bonus, it was nice out and we got to play outside today. How
great is that? Though when I got home from school I was bouncing off the
walls I was so keyed up.

When mommy came into my room this morning, she found me diligently trying to
open the top drawer of my changing table (attached to my bed). I couldn't
quite reach the handle! It's the one drawer that I can't yet get into from
the ground.

My clean laundry was sitting in my room so I decided to help mom and pull out
all the socks and put them away in the drawer. Never mind that it's the
top drawer and I can't see in there or reach - I just opened it and chucked them
in for her.

This evening I discovered shadows. I first saw the banister shadow on the wall,
then mommy & I played with our shadows on the floor and couch. Later this
evening, I discovered my gag reflex while brushing my teeth. That prompted
me to stick my toothbrush down my throat a couple times until mommy took it
away.

I am the official greeter at daycare. Anytime someone comes in I rush over
to say "hi" a few times. When they leave, I wish them "bye".

today when mommy came in not only was I barefooted, but I was bare-chested!!

We got a bunch of snow today which meant I could go out in my new snowsuit and

I think I've gotten the hang of using a fork and spoon when eating. I've used
them for quite a while when I've been handed them "preloaded," but now I can get
the food onto the utensils by myself.

We went to Aurora Farms (outlets) today just so I could wander around and get
out of the house. I really enjoyed seeing the ducks and geese that were in

I've developed an aversion to having food (crumbs) stuck to my fingers when
eating... And now that winter's here, I've decided that I don't like my
socks or shoes on. Most nights I take my socks off in bed. Take them
both off in the car, too.

Here's one big update... I'm walking (running), I'm talking, I'm climbing,
I'm opening drawers and doors (I can get into the infamous "junk drawer").
Here's a translation of things I say: more (=eat), shoes, socks, ball, bear, woof, dog, get down, book, ding! (as in, "ding" goes the toaster over when my pancakes are ready), ma ma, dada, uh-oh, bunny, duck, stick.
I love to stand on things. Things like frisbees (gasp!), my wooden puzzles, and books (especially the ones with sounds). I climb on top of the wipes container. I can stand on the saddle of my zebra (rodeo, here I come!). I'm not supposed to do any of this....

Today, when Mommy picked me up from school, she called me over to put my shoes
on. I walked over to where she was sitting, turned around, backed up, then
plopped down so that she could put them on! I love my shoes... I'm
so excited in the morning, too, when I get to put them on before we leave.

Today we went to Daddy's soccer game. I love balls! "Ball! Ball! Ball!"
And they were all over. I walked around chasing balls and playing with
some other kids for the whole game. I'd even walk around with the ball at
my feet, "dribbling".

This morning we stopped by Howard's Apples. While waiting for them to
open, we hung out by the cows. They were kinda neat. Until they
started mooing that is! Then I shrank away and tried to hide in Mommy's
shoulder. After we did our shopping, I still wouldn't let her put me down
on the ground anywhere near them!

The teeth are trying to come in like crazy! 3 are solidly in. 2 more
on the top might be in (I won't really let mommy check) and 3 molars are trying
to come it. Hopefully, that's the cause of my rough night tonight.

We've been working on me eating finger foods by myself, but I just don't want to
pick them up and put them into my mouth myself. I'm happy to eat them out
of someone else's hand... but this evening mommy gave me a saltine after I was
eagerly eyeing her cookie, and I ate that (and a few more) all by myself!

So I am "officially" a big boy. At my 9th month visit I weighed 22 lbs 6.3
oz (75%), was 30" long (95%!) and my head circumference is in the 90%.

Busy, busy!! I scoot all over doing the "wounded soldier crawl" - I slide
on my belly, dragging my right leg. But I can get wherever I want to go
that way. I have also learned how to get into a sitting position (which
makes it hard to go to sleep) and I've learned to wave.

I was sooo excited to take a bath tonight! Just didn't want to wait for
mommy to fill my tub and get me undressed. Rather than sitting patiently
on the floor, I pulled myself up on the side of the tub and tried leaning in.
And while in the bath, there were soap bubbles were floating on top of the
water! Cool!

Believe it or not, there is a food I don't like! Bananas. I'm
probably the only kid that doesn't like bananas. I'll eat them, but make

Today we went and bought me a new car seat since I'm out growing my infant
carrier. I got to ride in the seat part of the shopping cart (I'm usually
riding in my carrier). And I sat in a restaurant high chair for the first
time. I kept mom and dad busy trying to keep their food, silverware, and
napkins out of my reach! Mom let me try drinking water from her straw
since I kept trying to grab the glass, but I just couldn't get it. So then
she put her finger on the end of the straw so it would hold water and then let
it out in my mouth.

I love to eat! Just like my cousin Kylie. I get 4 bottles and 4
meals a day. So far I've had most the "standards" - prunes, peaches,
apples, bananas, pears, carrots, squash, peas, and green beans. Next up:
avocado. Then sweet potatoes. Then maybe asparagus, mango, and
papaya. Mommy makes most of my baby food, so I get to try stuff a lot of
kids don't (because Gerber/Beechnut don't offer it...)

I finally made it over the lump of my arm and onto my stomach! So I can
now roll over, not just hang out on my side and back! Still trying to sit

Today was a very busy day! I went to the doctor for my
4 month visit. I weighed 13 lbs 14 oz and am 25.25" long. The
doctor said that's the 20th percentile for weight and 70th percentile for
height - so I'm tall & skinny!! But mom can't figure out where the
doctor got those numbers... when she looked at the charts, it's a lot more
even.
I got vaccinations :-( The doctor said that I could start solids. Since I've already been having rice in my formula for my reflux, she said to go ahead and start with fruits and vegetables. Mommy asked what would be best for my constipation (from my new formula) - prunes! So we tried them in the evening. Yum yum! I took to it right away. I sure like eating. |

We just got back from Kansas. I took my first plane ride. It wasn't
too bad. I pretty much slept the whole way on both flights. In
Kansas, I got to see Grandma & Great-Grandma again, and meet the rest of
the family.

I slept through the night 4 nights in a row. Still haven't rolled
over - I can get onto my side, but not onto my stomach. Darn arm is
in the way, especially when my fingers are in my mouth. I really
like to hold onto fingers and be helped into sitting position, and then
standing.

Last night I went to asleep at 7:30 and didn't wake until 6:30 in the
morning!! Also, any day now, I'm going to roll over. I'm

For Thanksgiving we took a long ride to New Jersey to visit my
Great-Grandma Vanaman, Aunt Linda & Uncle Jeff, and Aunt Lauren & Uncle
Stephen. For the car ride, Daddy bought me a mirror so that Mom &
Dad could keep an eye on me from the front seat. Boy do I like my
mirror! Mommy had to cover it for my afternoon nap - it was
distracting me too much. For dinner, we headed to the Scweikert's
house.

I had my two month visit today and got lots of shots - 4! I did
so well! I cried when I was poked, but then as soon as mom picked me
up and calmed down again and was fine after that. But I sure
am sleepy now...

I've had some adventures in feeding... we've now got
things down pat and I'm putting the pounds on! Gained a whole pound
just this last week! Still continuing with the spit-up (GERD - more
on this @
infantrefluxdisease.com), but we're learning to deal with that better
- like inclining my crib mattress (which, by the way, I am using!
sleeping on my own every night). Oh, and my first pediatrician was
"fired" and we've moved on to a much better one.

I had my follow-up visit with Dr. McCumber today. I
gained 3 ounces!! Seems like all I do is eat, so it's nice to see
I'm putting on the weight. But I'll be back next week to check on my
weight again.

I had my one week doctor's appointment today. I
haven't gained back any of the weight I lost right after birth, so we'll
have a follow-up visit next week. Everything else is hunky-dory.

Who do I look like? With my broad face and long neck, Mommy thinks E.T... I've also
said to remind people of a turtle. I'm really good with moving my
head about. I like to stick it out like a turtle's head stretching
out of its shell.
My personality? Right now I'm working on Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. During the day, I'm an angel. Oh, but when we pass midnight and everyone wants to go to bed... then I like to cry and cry! Then when the sun comes up, out comes the angel again.
